Edwin Van Der Sar's save places the Champions League Trophy in the hands on Manchester United. After 120 minutes, 1 silly slap in the face, and 1 goal a piece, penalties decided the match.
Ronaldo's stutter step didn't fool Cech, but John Terry's slip evened the score. Anelka stepped up and Edwin guessed correctly to finish the match. This was the first penalty shootout that United has won with Sir Alex Ferguson at the helm.
This blog is run by two Yank soccer (football, footy, futbal) fans. We are old friends who live on opposite coasts and support opposing Premier League clubs (Chelsea and Man Utd), as well as the club formerly known as the Metrostars.
We followed the USA's every step with our own boots on the ground during a disappointing summer in 2006, and will surely be booking flights to South Africa in 2010.
While trying to avoid real work we are using this outlet as a record of our musings on soccer around the globe.
