EPL Predictions - 12/15 - 12/16

This is a huge week for the top 4 clubs. Will Arsenal widen their lead or will Chelsea pull closer? Will United top the table and finish off Liverpool once and for all? We shall see. But, let us predict for you what will happen. No need to even watch the matches!

Sunderland v Aston Villa

Sunderland put up a good fight at Stamford Bridge last weekend, but they are still only 2 games from a 7-1 slaughter at the hands of Everton. Villa just have too much pace for Sunderland to deal with. With Citeh and Chelsea coming up, Villa are desperate for a win, and they will get it.

3-1 Villa

West Ham v Everton
Deja vu? The Hammers are home to Everton for the second time in 3 days, this time in the League (as opposed to the Carling Cup match on Wednesday). Neither side appeared to hold anyone out (with Andy Johnson the exception for the Toffees), and I doubt they will on Saturday.

2-1 Everton (again)

Wigan v Blackburn

Poor Wiggum...I mean Wigan. They aren't picking up any of those desperately needed points this week.

3-1 Rovers

Fulham v Newcastle

The US fan wants to see Fulham do well, but what is this team's problem? They have way too much talent to be sitting 1 point (or 7 goals) away from the Championship next season. What did Boca do to Sanchez? Why can't they score anymore? Ah screw it, they break out of the funk this weekend.

2-1 Fulham.

Liverpool v Man. United
The big 4 go head to head this weekend. If this match ends in a draw and Chelsea wins, 3 of the top 4 will be tied on 37 points. Wow. But I think Liverpool will be a bit tired after that must win game v Marseille. United are well rested and in great form. United did the double over 'Pool last season, winning the Anfield match at the death via John O'Shea. They will do it again, but the trio of Rooney, Tevez, and Ronaldo will do it in more convincing fashion.

2-0 United.

Birmingham v Reading
A battle of blues here. The Blues were edged in the last minute by Newcastle last weekend while the Royals beat up on silly 'ol Liverpool. I think City are still settling in with their new manager but Reading away from home aren't very good. This is a tough one to call with the talent levels being almost the same.

1-1

Derby v Middlesbrough
All hail 'Brough, slayers of the mighty beast that is Arsenal. Honestly, Arsenal don't look all that great without Fabregas, but Middlesbrough?? Wow. What a shocker. Southgate has a terrible team this season, but they're playing Derby, who will be looking at this fixture as a chance to secure some points at home. Probably not going to happen though.

2-1, Middlesbrough

Man. City v Bolton
City are falling off a bit these days. The loss of Elano and the absence of any reliable goalscoring threat has hurt them a great deal. Bolton have been looking up since they appointed a new manager and I think this will be tougher for City than most think. Anelka is truly world class and can strike home or away. This will be a fun match to watch, but I think City has more talent up and and down than Bolton does.

1-0, City

Portsmouth v Tottenham
This should be another great match. Portsmouth are clicking very well and Tottenham are scratching their way out of relegation. On paper, Tottenham are a lethal squad but look lost with their skipper Ledley King. Darren Bent has been a disappointment by not getting on the pitch regularly, but he'll have his chance this weekend with Keane still suspended. And remember Defoe? Look for him to get some minutes this weekend. Still, I think Redknapp's side have a lot of confidence going into this and Harry will want to get the most out of his African players before they depart for the African Cup.

2-1, Portsmouth

Arsenal v Chelsea
This is a big one. If Arsenal win, they pull further away from the Blues. If Chelsea win (and United win), then they are only one point behind first place in the table. Could anyone have predicted that the day after Jose was sacked? Unfortunately for the fans, this will be a bogged down affair. With no Fabregas in the midfield, Arsenal are much less creative and I think Chelsea can control the play (boring play) with Lampard and Makelele. Arsenal will try to frustrate Chelsea, who have Shevchenko up top looking to make use of what seems to be his last chance at Chelsea. This is at the Emirates, but I think the Chelsea players won't mind. Still, these two teams are too close in talent to call.

1-1
